National framework for workforce development
Local authorities are using the IDeA’s national competency framework toolkit to develop their workforce. The toolkit can improve service delivery and give employees greater opportunity for progression. It is an essential tool in improving services and contributes towards higher levels of employee engagement.
Why not download the national framework which is based on a series of competencies and can be applied to employees at all levels by going to:
The competency framework is now automated, offering even more to users. It’s called the WHE-Uk e-tool and helps organisations manage organisational values, workforce performance needs, gaps and development resources. Developed in partnership with local authorities, the tool provides a structure for linking the aspirations of an organisation, i.e. its vision, values and objectives, to the competencies, attitudes, skills, and knowledge required to achieve those aspirations.
The e-tool provides a user-friendly, intuitive way to manage performance at an individual level. Managers can explore links between values, behaviours, underlying characteristics and specific development resources when discussing job performance with employees. It provides a much more efficient management and implementation of competencies than can be achieved using paper-based approaches. The WHE-UK e-tool offers the easiest and most effective way to help managers release the hidden potential in their organisations. This version of the national framework may not be free of charge.
